He has got a big dream – to run his own barbershop which was his father’s wish too. Mandela’s life changes drastically when the village elections are held. Two candidates run for President. It is a story of a devoted classical singer Sharad Nerulkar, living in Mumbai. He follows in the steps of his father and his guru. Three policemen ‒ Maniyappan (Joju George), Praveen (Kunchacko Boban), and Sunitha (Nimisha Sajayan) try to run away from the outbreak because of unfair arrest and unintentional manslaughter. It is uneasy to prove their innocence right at that moment. It is exciting to observe the relationship between these three totally different people who due to circumstances have to be and act together. In the beginning, the story moves a little slowly to create the atmosphere, yet the movie gains its speed and gets really fast-moving. Kunchako Boban, Nimisha Sajayan, and Joju George play the leading parts.
6. Jathi Ratnalu – Amazon Prime Video
This South Indian Telegu-language movie became a blockbuster just after its production. Written and directed by Anudeep KV, the story revolves around three guys from a provincial town who migrate to Hyderabad in search of better living. However, their idea gets no support from their families. One of the friends promised his father he will be employed in two months. After this the friends find themselves in the center of numerous unlucky events and end up with a dead body, having to prove to be not guilty. Brilliant humor makes the plot gripping. Relationships between the three are fascinating to observe.
7. The Great Indian Kitchen – Amazon Prime Video
The Great Indian Kitchen is the representation of every Indian household in general, which is based on patriarchy and suppression of women. After marriage a woman has to be obedient to her husband, that’s what others believe is the right state of affairs in a family. The movie shows the life of a woman, played by Nimisha Sajayan who was fascinated by the fact she was getting married. However, soon her life became the monotonous life of a kitchen slave, who had to do repetitive chores every day never receiving gratitude. The story is about the woman’s transformation of herself and her household as well. What is absolutely amazing and should be praised – is the truthfulness of the movie. Other leading parts are played by Suraj Venjaramoodu, Ajitha V.M., and T. Suresh Babu.

Directed by Mari Selvaraj, the film is set in the countryside in Tamil Nadu. A series of events leads to a conflict between locals and authorities. The movie shows the life of Karnan (played by Dhanush), a courageous guy who struggles for the rights of villagers. Unfairness, fight against the caste system, the cruelty of policemen are depicted in this movie. Except for Dhanush, the film features Rajisha Vijayan, Natarajan, Yogi Babu, and Lal Paul. The movie emphasizes the important issues of caste discrimination and the fight against it.
